Torre Veiramar II is located on the Malecon in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. It consists of 1 underground floor with perimeter retaining walls and 22 stories above ground. This structure is supported in auger piles and isolated foundations.
We were the Engineers and the creator of the tridimensional model and structural finite analysis using ETABS V8.0 and SAFE V7.0, high seismic risk design and wind design with the ASCE7-05 wind and seismic code requirements and ACI-318-05 code for the structural design of reinforced concrete structures (columns, beams, shear walls and foundations of the tower.
This tower represented several structural design challenges as it faces the ocean in front and is exposed to high winds up to 180 MPH. Such high wind forces were considered in the structural analysis, resulting in the round shape structure in the façade to minimize such effect and create an architectural appealing structure while without compromising structural integrity.
